  1. 1.  Abijah NORTH was born on 19 Oct 1743 in Farmington, Connecticut (son of Lieut. John NORTH and Esther STANLEY); died on 3 May 1785 in Bridport, Addison Co., Vermont.

    Name:
    "Abijah North came to Shoreham from Farmington, Conn., in 1774; went on to fifty acres of land given him by one of the proprietors; cleared a piece of land that summer; planted aple seeds for an orchard; built a log house and returned to Connecticut in the fall of that year. The war having broken out that year, he did not come on with his family as expected, but remained till after the peace, when he returned wit his wife and six children to his former residence. He lived on that place for two years, and then went to Bridport, where he died May 3, 185."

    During the Revolution Abijah North enlisted in 1778 in Capt. Bray's Company, Col. Roger Enos Regiment of Connecticut State Troops, and from Oct. 1, 1778, to 1781-2 in Col. Flower's Regiment, Capt. Parton's Company of Artillery Artificers.

    Abijah married Triphenia GRANT on 6 Sep 1764 in Goshen, Vermont. Triphenia was born on 16 Jan 1737 in Goshen, Vermont; died on 17 Mar 1783 in Shoreham, Vermont. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    1. Capt. Lemuel NORTH was born on 21 Mar 1779 in Farmington, Connecticut; died on 15 Sep 1847 in Chazy, Clinton Co., New York.

  1. 2.  Lieut. John NORTH was born on 13 May 1711 in Farmington, Connecticut (son of Nathaniel NORTH and Margaret HOLCOMB); died on 22 Oct 1785 in Goshen, Vermont.

    Notes:

    Name:
    They removed in 1745 to Goshen. He served in he French and Indian Wars, and Oct. 31, 1760, the Colonial Assembly appointed him "lieutenant of the east company or train band in Goshen." He engaged in business, speculated largely in lands, and finally meeting with misfortune, died poor.

    John married Esther STANLEY on 21 Feb 1739. Esther was born about 1698; died on 19 Nov 1770. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
