Edward L. "Barney" Slawson of Sullivan, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2008 at the age of 61 years.

Edward was born on August 19, 1946 in Newburg, MO to Charles and Mary Alice (Jones) Slawson. He married Martha M. Sohn-Brown on November 27, 1976 in Newburg, MO and worked for many years at the Bobber Truck Stop where he was nicknamed Barney. Barney loved to meet the guys and fellowship at Homer's BBQ and was known as a good-hearted man.

Barney is survived by a brother, Louis Dean Slawson of Newburg, MO; two sisters, Diane Wardle and husband Harvey of Clarksville, TN and Lois Sagel and husband Phillip of Newburg; grandchildren, Barbara Laney and husband Ron and Brian McMillian and wife Melissa all of Cuba; special granddaughter Brenda Johnson of Dixon, MO; six great grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Graveside services for Edward "Barney" Slawson were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 11, 2008 at Oddfellows Memorial Cemetery in Sullivan with Homer Britton officiating. All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan.
