    Article from The Nunda Herald, Nunda, McHenry Co., Ill dtd Friday, March 2, 1894:

    Died, at his home, Friday evening March 23, Gr. Geo. w. Dike, aged 82 years, 10 mos. and 14 days.

    George W. Dyke was born in the county of Pottsford, Vt., April 19, 181l. Leaving there in '41, he moved to this vicinity where he has resided ever since. He was converted when about 20 years old, when he joined the Cong'l church at this place, being one of the charter members, and the last of the charter members to pass away. Later on he became acquainted with the Free Methodists, and thought best to join them, and has since then been a faithful member. He was noted for his Christian integrity. He was truly a man of God.

    The funeral sermom was preached in the F.M. church, by Rev. M.V. Clute, of St. Charles, Ill., to a large concourse of sympathising friends. He leave a wife and several in family on the shores of time. The remains were laid to rest in the Crystal Lake cemetery.

    George married Oliva M. WILBUR on 17 Jun 1870 in Kane Co., Illinois. Oliva (daughter of John WILBUR and Mary MORGAN) was born on 07 Jan 1820 in Chautauqua County, New York; died on 29 Aug 1906 in Winnebago County, Wisconsin; was buried in Bluff City Cemetery, Elgin, Kane Co., Illinois.     Jonathan was a soldier in the War of 1812, and was for some years Deputy Sheriff of Rutland Co. He survived Tamesin more than 40 years and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Dr. George Page, in Crown Point, NY.
