Name:
John De Montagu, Knt., K.G., Earl of Salisbury, Lord Montagu, Lord Monthermer, son and heir, was born about 1350/1 (aged thirty-nine at death of his father), and was nephew and heir of William de Montagu, Earl of Salisbury. He was summoned to Parliament from 23 Nov 1392. John De Montagu, Earl of Salisbury, having conspired against King Henry IV, was beheaded at Cirencester on 7 Jan 1399/1400, and was buried there.

John married Maud FRANCIS before 04 May 1383. Maud (daughter of Adam FRANCEYS and ? UNKNOWN) died before 05 Aug 1424. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

2. Anne DE MONTAGU was born in Salisbury, England; died on 28 Nov 1457; was buried in Church of St. Katherine by the Tower.

John De Montagu, Knt., of Wark-upon-Tweed, younger son of William de Montagu, Knt., 3rd Lord Montagu, by Katherine, daughter of William de Grandison, 1st Lord Grandison, of Lambourn, co. Berks. He was at the battle of Crecy on 26 Aug 1346, and fought at Poitiers on 19 Sep 1356. He was summoned to Parliament from 15 Feb 1357 by writs directed 'Johanni de Monte Acuto', whereby he is held to have become Lord Montagu. He was Steward of the Household to King Richard II, 1381-1386/7.

John married Margaret DE MONTHERMER before 1343. Margaret (daughter of Sir Thomas DE MONTHERMER, Knt. and Margaret ?) was born on 14 Oct 1329 in Stokenham; died on 24 Mar 1394/5. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
