    Notes:

    Name:
    MRS ELIZABETH ANN McWILLIAMS

Many old time friends and neighbors gathered Monday afternoon at Pierce Chapel while funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Elizabeth Ann McWilliams, who passed away on the 8th day of April. Mrs. McWilliams had attained the age of 96 years, 2 months, and 14 days, and was truly a wonderful lady in many ways.

Although she had reached an age far beyond the attained by the larger portion of humanity, she was active up to the beginning of her last illness, about three weeks ago. Possessed of a bright and well informed mind, she was well read on the topics of the day until the weakening of eye sight a few years ago. At that time too she was forced to give up sewing of which pastime she was very fond. She was an expert needlewoman and her work was a source of much pride to her family.

Elizabeth Ann Bothel was born on the 25th day of January, 1827 at Chestnut Flats, Pennsylvania, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. D.H. Johnston of Central City on the 8th day of April 1923.

On the 20th day of July 1847, she was united in marriage to Robert McWilliams. to this union two children were born, Mrs. Johnston of this community, and Mrs. M.D. Farren of Colorado Springs. Mrs. McWilliams had been a widow for seventy years and more, the young husband having passed away in 1852 leaving her to bring up her little girls alone.

A devout Christian, Mrs. McWilliams found much consolation in religion. In early womanhood she had united with the Presbyterian church at Curry run, Pa., and held fast throughout all her years to the religious teachings of her youth.

Since 1878 she had made her home with Mrs. Johnston and family. She was well known and greatly beloved throughout the community.

the services were held at 3:00 o'clock, and were conducted by Rev. H.G. Langley, pastor of the Central City Methodist church. burial was made in the Pierce Chapel cemetery.
