  	Obituary for Hilmon Slawson Hilmon Slawson, age 77, of Rutherfordton, NC, died Wednesday, February 17, 2016 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was a native of Winston County, Mississippi and the son of the late Vester Lafete Slawson and the late Henrietta Barber Slawson Blakeney. He attended Holly Springs Baptist Church and was the owner of Dalton, G.A. World of Carpet Store in Hendersonville for many years. Hilmon loved to bowl, golf and was an avid reader. He is survived by his wife: Peggy McCrary Slawson, one daughter of Greer, SC, one stepdaughter of Mills River, NC, one sister of Ballwin, MO, two brothers; one of Baton Rouge, LA and another of Rutherfordton, NC, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild: The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Holly Springs Baptist Church . The funeral service will be at Holly Springs Baptist Church at 2:00 PM, Sunday, February 21, 2016. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
