Died of heart failure per Dr Bruce R. McCampbell, Lt. U.S.N., interment arranged by C. R. Mather, a partner in the firm with whom Lester Mapes was employed. Ciudad Trujillo, the capital of the Dominican Republic in 1940, was the port of entry for most of the settlers.
