  • Name Joseph Crane SEARS  [1, 2
    • Joseph Sears lived in South East, New York, till 1827-8, when he removed to his father's place, remaining there till 1836, when he purchased the farm of his brother James in Millplain, Connecticut.

The house that Herman R. Sears was born in, was also the birthplace of George Belden Sears.

The old boundary line between Connecticut and New York passed through the house, and the room they were born in was on the New York Side. By a later survey the whole house is in Connecticut.

Mr. Sears was a public-spirited man, and interested in all improvements.

He was Rep. to State Leg. in 1835-6 and 1842.

He was greatly beloved by all his neighbors, especially the young, was an active church member, often on committees, and in 1829 sent to the Presbytery. [1]
