      Mrs. Helen Alice Massey, 75, the wife of James Massey of Pleasanton, died Monday, March 5, 1984, of a massive stroke at Mercy Hospital in Ft. Scott, Kan.

      The eldest daughter of Homer A. and Estella Badgley Williams, she was born Sept. 28, 1908, at Louisburg. Other than five years at Selden, Kan., she spent her early life in Louisburg.

      She was married to Edwin Cooper of Louisburg, Dec. 1925. They became the parents of one son, Darrell Cooper.

      Mrs. Massey was employed at the Braemoor Coat Factory in Paola for a number of years. She later owned and operated the Anderson Studio in Osawatomie.

      She and James Massey of Dallas, Texas, were married in 1955. They resided there until retirement and moved to Pleasanton to make their home.

      Mrs. Massey was a member of the Methodist Church. She would have received her Eastern Star 50-year pin next year.

      Preceeding her in death were her parents, one brother, Raymond A. Williams, and one sister, Mrs. Edith M. Beamer.

      Surviving is her husband, James Massey of the home; a son, Darrell Cooper of Diamond, Mo.; three grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, and three sisters, Mrs. Lola Deane Crotchett of Louisburg, and Mrs. Florence Seeman and Mrs. Doris Hinkle.

      The services were at 2 p.m. today at the Torneden Funeral Home in Pleasanton. The burial was in the Pleasanton Cemetery.

      Memorials were given in her name to the American Heart Associstion.
