    Notes 
    • He enlisted with the "30-day men," in April, 1861, at the outbreak of the Civil War, in the 2nd Co., of the 7th Regt., N.Y. Vols. He then re-enlisted for three years in Co. E., 165th N.Y. Vols. He entered as a private, but was promoted to 2nd Lieut., 1st Lieut., and Captain of his Company. He resigned his office and was mustered out in the fall of 1865. On his return home he engaged in farming and later became connected with the village gas works. he was postmaster of Geneva one term, from 1881. In '85 he became Secretary of the Phillips and Clark Stove Co.
