  	DAVID KENT THOMAS David Kent Thomas, 61, died on November 20, 2011. He was born March 23, 1950 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, Katherine and James Thomas and his beloved wife of twenty-four years, Vicki Thomas. He is survived by his brother Ron Thomas of California and his daughter Rachel Williston of Independence, Missouri. David held a Master's Degree in Counseling. He retired from his career as a counselor at the Cass Career Center for High School students in Harrisonville, Missouri in 2009, where he had worked for fifteen years. He started his teaching career in 1978 in Springfield, Missouri. In the '80s David sold furniture for Tell City with his father, Jim and brother, Ron. The three of them often found time to squeeze in a golf game during travels. David loved traveling and warm weather. He and Vicki often went on a trip shortly after Christmas to get away from the cold winters in Kansas City and to celebrate their anniversary. He leaves behind two grandchildren, Samuel (8y) and David (5y). He loved to watch their soccer games. He spent a lot of time teasing them or taking them to movies. He is mourned by his only child, Rachel, and son-in-law, Keith. He was very involved in their lives and supported their dreams, including their business, A Mother's Love Birth Center in Independence. You could often hear him asking if she "had hatched any babies this week." He would stop by the center to see what was changing or just to get out of the house. He had a colorful sense of humor and enjoyed talking to all sorts of people. He never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed. Instead of flowers, the family requests donations to KKFI Radio in Kansas City. Funeral services will be held at D W Newcomer's Stine and McClure Chapel at 2 pm on Saturday, November 26, where friends may call from 6-8 pm on Friday.
