Name |
Adela Princess Of AUSTRASIA [1, 2] |
- Adela married Alberic of Austrasia and had several children. After Alberic died, Adela founded a convent around 690 at Pfalzel near Trier. She then became a Benedictine nun, entered her convent, and became its first abbess. Her reputation for holiness was widespread. St. Boniface visited her there in 1722, and a letter to her written by St. Elfleda has survived.
After several years of prayer and good works, Adela died in 1734/35. Her relics are at the convent. [1]
