      Edward Was the son of Peter Romans and Harriet Woodward. He enlisted as a private in the Union Army in 1863. He was in Company E, 3rd Infantry Regiment Michigan. He was wounded on May 3 1863 at Chancellorsville. VA. He was discharged in 1863.

      He was a farmer. He died of heatstroke farming his fields after the war.
      He was the father of 3 children and married to Jennie Davis.
