    • His parents had moved to Watertown, where he was born. In 1801 the family returned to Stamford. After studying medicine with Dr. Elton, of Watertown, he graduated at the New York Medical College, and soon opened an office in Stamford on the north side of Park Place. His practice became quite extensive and he at once rose to eminence in his profession. He was also much esteemed as a citizen. On retiring from active business in 1838 he removed to the homestead of his father and grandfather. [1]
