    • Charles "Chuck" Alonzo Waldhaus, 73, of the Illinois Veterans Home, died on Saturday (March 16, 2013) in Blessing Hospital.

      He was born on Aug. 9, 1939, in Quincy, a son of Melvin Henry and Mildred Josephine PaDelford Waldhaus. His former wife was Mary Kay Schmid, and together they had two children, Tracy and Tanya.

      Chuck attended Quincy High School, then served in the U.S. Navy for four years. He was assigned to the USS Priceston aircraft carrier and worked on aircraft frames.

      He was employed by McLaughlin Auto Supply and also worked as a painter for George Goodapple Painting and John Jackson Church Decorators. He was involved in the painting of St. Francis Catholic Church, Quincy Junior High School auditorium, the Jewish Temple, the Labor Temple and Duker and Haugh Funeral Home.

      In the past, he enjoyed fishing, duck and pheasant hunting, and trapshooting at the North Side Boat Club. Chuck enjoyed watching all sports on TV and was a fan of Chicago Cubs baseball and St. Louis Blues hockey.

      A donation was given on Chuck's behalf to the Illinois Eye Bank.

      He is survived by a son, Tracy A. Waldhaus of Quincy; a daughter, Tanya M. Waldhaus Jacobs Davidson of De Pere, Wis.; two grandsons, Kyle Jacobs and Dillon Davidson; three siblings, Pat Dieker, Frank Waldhaus and Barb Doellman; and nieces and nephews.

      He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Richard Waldhaus, and sisters, Darla Jean Waldhaus and Bonnie Marchio.

      VISITATION: A memorial visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Friday in the All Faiths Chapel at the Illinois Veterans Home. Burial will take place at a later date in the Illinois Veterans Home Sunset Cemetery.

      ARRANGEMENTS: Duker and Haugh Funeral Home.
