  • Name Ralph ALLEN  [1
    • Ralph Allen probably came to this country before his father, and in 1638 is found in Sandwich, where he is recorded as a church member. He became a Friend, and suffered persecution for his fidelity to the sect. He bought land in Dartmouth extensively from three owners, and probably at one time lived in that town, although he died in Sandwich in 1698. Among his Dartmouth holdings was a parcel of land at "Barnes his Joy" (now Barney's Joy), which he bought in 1672 from Sarah Warren, widow of Nathaniel Warren, and this he conveyed by deed of 1675 to his son Ebenezer Allen. On this tract was located Ebenezer's homestead near Allen's Pond. Others of the family lived in the vicinity. [1]
