- Mary Prowse was married as a child. She was of full age in 1520 and brought to her husband the manors of Poughill and Doddridge in Sandford, with other lands in co. Devon. In 1516 she and her husband claimed the lands of Thomas Prowse in Poughill, Dodderidge, Ilsington, and elsewhere. She was heir general of Upcot in Cheriton PitzPaine co. Devon, which had once belonged to her great-uncle, Nicholas Randford, the noted judge who was murdered about 1455. [1]
