- John Baynton, Knt., of Falstone, co. Wilts, Sheriff of Wiltshire, M.P. for Wiltshire, son of Nicholas de Baynton, Esq., of Falstone (of baronial descent), by Joan (descendant of Charlemagne), daughter of John de la Roche, Knt., of Roche in Bromham, co, Wilts. He was born about 1407 (aged four at the time of the death of his maternal grandmother, and of age in 1428). They had five sons. He was marrried for the second time to Katherine Payne, widow of John Stourton, M.P., of Preston Plucknet, Somerset, and daughter of Thomas Payne, o Payneshay, co., Devon. Sir John Baynton died on 20 June 1465. His widow was married for the third time to William Carent, Esq., of Toomer in Henstridge, Somerset (died 8 Apr. 1476), She died in 1473. [1]
