- In 1739 he bought several tacts of land in the lower part of "Harrison's purchase," Westchester County, in which deeds he is described as being Thomas, Jr., "late of the i'sl of Nassu, now of Rye." He was a prosperous farmer, a well-known member of "the Friends," and a man of sterling honesty and probity. His will, dated October 5, 1775, was proved August 24, 1784. He makes bequests to hs wife Martha, his son Joseph, his daughter Phebe, wife of John Haviland, and Sarah, wife of Thomas Vail, Jr. [1]
