    • Deacon Pelatiah Leete m. Abigail Fowler on July 1, 1705, and soon after removed to Leete's Island, where no settlement had been made before. The land upon which he settled was that allotted to his grandfather, Gov. William Leete, in 1660, became the portion of his father, John Leete, from whom it came to him. He was a large landholder and a successful farmer. He kept a hundred head of neat cattle, and considered a hundred bushels of shelled corn to the acre no more than an average crop. he was a deacon in the Fourth Church of Guilford, and though chiefly engaged in private affairs was often elected to represent the town in the General Court of the Colony.
