  • Name Thomas HAMMOND  [1
    • Little can be learned about his military service, but he probably acquired his title of Lieutenant by service in a local militia company, as the only record found of his service is on the Muster Roll, sworn to Nov. 2, 1748, in His Majesty's service, under command of Capt. John Cutting. Entered service Sept. 24; served until Sept. 26. Length of service three days. the company consisted of a troop of horse called out on an alarm at Boston. (Mass. Arch. Muster Rolls, Vol. 92, p. 38).

Both Jackson and Bond give him four children by his second wife, but this is an error, as these children are not mentioned in either his will or that of his widow, Anna, and they were undoubtedly the children of Thomas Hammond, Jr., and Ann Farley, his wife. His will is found in Middlesex Probate, No. 7162. Will dated Jan. 22, 1747-8; Probated March 26, 1753.
