- John and Patience first settled at Groton, Conn., but removed to Hoosick, NY some time prior to the Revolution, and were living there at the time of the Battle of Bennington, Aug. 6, 1777. John was taken from his farm by the Indians and carried by them into the British Camp, a short time before the Battle. [1]
