    • "Whitney Families of Connecticut": Born in Ridgefield, CT., 30 Dec 1778; a trader; married near Whitehall, Washington Co., NY, Philena Terhune, of Northumberland, Saratoga Co., NY; and settled at South Hero, Vt., one of the large islands in the north part of Lake Champlain, where they died (he, 22 Feb. 1851) and were buried. When his parents had outlived their power of comfortable self-support, he removed them from Ridgefield to his own house at South Hero, and there cared for them tenderly while they lived. He survived all his children. [1]
