  Notes	"History and Genealogy of the Families of Old Fairfield": He and his bro. Samuel were most likely children of the first wife of Nathaniel Richards of Norwalk, for Samuel called Richards "father" and received a legancy in his will. Named in Norwalk, 1655 list; had seven children, 1672. he and Samuel were among the Norwalk freemen, 1669, and among the petitioners for establishment of Danbury, 1672. From an entry made by Winthrop, it appears that he was a kinsman of Nicholas Olmstead of Hartford. Married mary Kimberly, dau. of Thomas, whose will 1672 named his gr. children Nathaniel, Mary and Elizabeth Hayes.
