- "History and Genealogy of the Families of Old Fairfield": Served as soldier under Capt. Seeley, King Philip's War, and in the Narragansett Fort Fight, Dec. 1675, fell with two bullets in each thigh, but crawled away, cutlass in hand, and after great suffering from exposure and loss of clothing, survived to receive 50 shillings in compensation from a grateful General Assembly in 1678.
