    Notes
    • Excerpt from "Philip Delano of the Fortune 1621": On 30 Oct. 1667 Thomas Delano was fined for "having carnall coppulation" with his wife Rebecca bef. marriage. The Delano genealogy has the child of that relationship born on the same day his father was being sentenced. Thomas and Rebecca may have felt the shame of their situation, for they named the child Benoni (the name meaning "child of sorrow" in Hebrew but more commonly used by the colonists for a son whose mother died in childbirth.)
On 27 Apr 1738 the administration for the estate of "Dr. Benoni Delano" was granted to sons Beriah Delano, husbandman, and Lemuel Delano, sailor, both of Duxbury. On 12 Sept. 1738 the estate was divided into five equal parts: as the eldest male Beriah received two shares, and Lemuel Delano, the representatives of Hannah Harlow, dec., and Rebeckah wife of Amasa Turner of Duxborough all received one share.
