    • He settled in Windsor when a young man, and in 1712 removed to Suffield. He was prominent and public spirited, and represented the town four years in the General Court. he was the head of the Suffield branch of the Mather family. Among his descendants are Gov. John Cotton Smith of Connecticut and Hon. Elias Leavenworth of Syracuse, New York. [1]
