He was adopted by George W. and Sarah (Griswold) Burdick. He was raised in McKean County, PA. He received his medical degree from the University of Vermont and practiced in Kane,Mckean, PA. On 30 Oct 1888 he married Fantine Livia Rogers. They had no children.
