    Notes
    • Louis was adopted by Mrs. Homer Baker of Hannibal as an infant. He then took the last name of Baker.

Obituary of Louis Bair Baker that was given to me by Beverly Mayhugh:

      Veteran
      Paper Mill
      Worker Dies

Louis Bair Baker, 62, of Hemlock Street, Natrona Heights, an employee of the Tarentum Paper Mills for 30 years, died at his home at 11:30 Saturday night.
He was a resident of Natronia Heights for the past 14 years. During infancy he was adopted by Mrs. Homer Baker, of Hannibal, Ohio and took Baker as his last name. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Jan Lawther Harbison, of Fifth Avenue; a step-sister, Mrs. Emma Montgomery, of Third Avenue; a step-brother, Jacob Bair, of Sixth Avenue; three foster sisters, Mrs. Clara Furer, of Woodsfield, Ohio, Mrs. Margaret Steiner, of St. Clairsville, Ohio and Mrs. Georgia Henthorn, of Hannibal, Ohio; and four foster brothers, Homer Baker, of Natrona Height, Donal, of Rayland, Ohio, Sterling, of Warren, Ohio, and Oscar, of Sarver.
Friends are being received at Flick's funeral chapel, where services will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Burial will be in Mt. Airy Cemetery.

Attends Funeral of Brother, Lew Baker
Lafferty----Mrs. Margaret Steiner of Lafferty returned home Wednesday from attending the funeral of her brother, Lew Bare Baker of Tarentum, PA. The deceased was well known in Belmont and Harrison county district.
It was the third funeral in the family within the year. The first was Mrs. Steiner's husband, August, who was killed one year ago at the Crabapple mine near Fairpoint. Second was her father, Homer Baker of Cameron, who died in November.
Mr. Lew Baker died very suddenly of a heart aliment.

Note: I am lead to believe that Louis Bair/Bare Baker is the child of George Bair/Bare and Martha Harman. According to the obit., Louis had a sister, Jane Lawther/Harbison. Jane is the daughter of George and Martha. It could be possible since Martha died in 1882, George might of been unable to take care of an infant. Giving Louis to his sister, Margaret Jane Bare/Baker would make sense. Since I do not have any dates when Louis's obituary was written, I have to go by census records. According to the 1900 census, Louis was born October 1881. So I then add his age, 62, and have come up with the date 1944 for his death.

According to the Death certificate, Lewis was born October 20, 1871 and was 70 when he died. I am leaning towards the obituary as his correct age at death as being 62. The certificate does state that Lewis was the son of George Bair and Martha Harmon.
