However, it is brought to my attention that he is not buried there. Where he died and is buried is unknown at this time (Oct 2015). I will be keeping the place of death as South Carolina, until further evidence is found. BREED, Joseph (I07706)

8209 Myrtle Harris was born in 1885 in Koskiusko County, Indiana to John Harris and Sarah Engle. Her birth year seems to be somewhat nebulous. In 1900, she is listed with her parents and her birth month is given as April 1884 (15 yrs old), in 1910 she gives her age as 24 (1886); in 1920 she gives her age as 30 (1890), in 1930 she gives her age as 40 (1890) and in 1940 she gives her age as 53 (1887). Myrtle married Aden Ellsworth Kerns in about 1901. They had two children, Raymond (1903-1918) and Leroy B. Kerns (1907-1984). Shortly after Raymond's death in 1918, Myrtle and Aden split up. Myrtle is listed with Benjamin Grubaugh in the 1920 census and she lists her status as "married". Aden in also living in Los Angeles in 1920, separate from Myrtle and he lists his status as "married". They apparently divorced shortly after 1920 and Myrtle married Benjamin Franklin Grubaugh. 8211 Nabby Adams Smith was the eldest child and only surviving daughter of John and Abigail Adams and the sister of John Quincy Adams. She married William Stephens Smith in London on June 12, 1786 while her parents were in residence there but the marriage was not a happy one. Abandoned on numerous occasions while her husband went "seeking his fortune", Nabby showed herself to be a true child of her parents, strong-willed, uncomplaining and able to keep herself and her children together under one roof, earning the unstinting respect of John and Abigail and of John Quincy, who loved her dearly ... one of the few people he did love dearly.

In October of 1811, Nabby discovered a lump in her breast and a mastectomy was performed without any anesthesia. Her parents were holding her hands during the brutal surgery and, according to John, she never cried out once. After recuperating at the Adams homestead in Quincy, she returned to her dreary life in New York. But the cancer proved too much for even Nabby's resilient spirit and, in the summer of 1813, in agony, she returned to her parents in Quincy and died in The Old Homestead. The elderly John Adams grieved in a letter to his old friend Thomas Jefferson: "Your friend, my only Daughter, expired, Yesterday Morning .... in the 49th Year of her age, 46 of which She was the healthiest and firmest of Us all: Since which, She has been a monument to Suffering and to Patience." It has been said that neither John nor Abigail ever truly recovered from her death.

Cause of death: Breast cancer

Her identity is established in a record of The Plymouth Colony Treasury accounts of 8 June 1666 which shows Nathaniel Church owing five pounds in fines and Sarah Barstow "allies" (alias) Church owing five pounds.
On March 1662/3 Nathaniel Church and Elizabeth Soule were fined for committing forniction with each other. On 5 Oct. 1663 Elizabeth Soule sued Nathaniel Church for committing fornication and for denying to marry her. Nathaniel must have been of age to be sued, therefore born 1642 or earlier.
On 11 Mach 1668/9 Joseph Silvester Sr., Nathaniel Church, John Bryant Sr. and Samuel Bryant all of Scituate bought 100 acres in Scituate from Humphrey Johnson of Hingham.

Note that both Nathaniel and his brother Samuel had daughters named Abigail, Martha, Mary, and Sybil. they were all born, baptized, and most were married in Middletown over approximately the same time period. Some accounts attribute a given husband to a daughter of the wrong parents.

nathaniel m. Margery Lane. Walter C. Metcalfe's edition of the Vistations of Northamptonshire has an appendix that includes a pedigree of Lane of Kettering, Walgrave, Glendon and Cottesbrook which shows: 'Bassell Lane of Ketteringe and Isham, co. North'ton = Isabella, da. of Edward Dorne of Yarkley Hastings, co North'ton' by whom he had among others 'John Lane, son and heir, 1613', and 'Margery, ux. Nathaniell Yorke of Cotton End, co. North'ton.' Edward Dorne is a mistake for Thomas Dorne, and it seems likely that the son John Lane was the Mr. John Lawe mentioned in Katherine Yorke's will. Margery was bur. Hardingstone 18 Aug 1623, and Nathaniel evidently m. again, as he had a daughter Katherine bp. Hardingstone 8 July 1628.
